Vintage Knoll Cesca Cane Chairs by Marcel Breuer – Set of 3

Description : Set of three authentic Knoll International Cesca chairs designed by Marcel Breuer, consisting of two armless side chairs and one armchair. Each chair combines a polished chrome tubular-steel cantilever frame with black-finished wood frames and woven cane seats and backs. The original Knoll International label is present, confirming the manufacturer. This influential Bauhaus design contrasts industrial steel with traditional cane and remains one of the most recognizable modern chair forms. The set shows vintage wear, including surface wear to the black finish and chrome, along with significant broken and missing cane on the armchair back; the two side chairs appear substantially more intact. Sold together as a three-chair set and well suited for restoration, continued use, or a design-focused interior. Knoll currently identifies the Cesca as a Marcel Breuer design and continues to manufacture both side-chair and armchair versions.

Technique

History
Breuer's chair was introduced in 1928 as the B32 and was later named Cesca after his daughter Francesca. Its combination of tubular steel and cane became an enduring example of Bauhaus-era furniture design.

Condition
Vintage used condition. Two armless chairs have comparatively intact cane seats and backs. The armchair has substantial cane loss and breakage across the backrest and will require repair or recaning. Black wood surfaces and chrome frames show scratches, scuffs, and age-related wear.
