This rare small stoneware container is a No. 2 “The HyMatic” inkwell or chemical jar, patented April 16, 1901, as inscribed on the lid. It features a distinctive two-tone glaze with a dark brown Albany slip over tan stoneware, and a vented body with tiny pierced holes likely for pressure release or measurement regulation.
