It was an ordinary morning at Rebuilders Xchangeâor so we thought.
The warehouse was still stretching awake, light pouring through the big doors, tools clinking, humans sipping their first coffee of the day. Thatâs when we saw him: George, our beloved shop dog, climbing into a bright blue vintage Buick Torpedo pedal car, pillow fluffed just right beneath his paws.
With ears perked, eyes focused, and tail gently wagging, George was clearly on a mission.
âWhere to today, George?â we asked.
He didnât bark a replyâheâs a dog of few wordsâbut his gaze said it all:
âIâm shopping.â
đ Stop #1: The Reading Nook
George pulled up beside a miniature bunk bed stacked with cozy retro bedding. It wasnât long before he hopped out of his ride and settled in for a quick chapter from Grandmaâs Stories, read aloud by his favorite human.
He listened intently. He yawned dramatically. He approved the bunk beds for any visiting pups or dolls.
đȘ Stop #2: Treasure Hunting in Aisle 7
Back in the Buick, George cruised past stacks of reclaimed wood, vintage cabinet knobs, stained glass, and mismatched dining chairs. He paused near a mid-century end table, tilting his head thoughtfully.
Was it the woodgrain? The craftsmanship?
Noâit was the jar of dog treats left behind by another vendor.
đ ïž Stop #3: The Lighting Section
A chandelier caught his eye. George barked twice. His human scribbled a note.
A vintage crystal fixture for his reading corner, perhaps?
đ Final Stop: The Sales Counter
Tired but satisfied, George pulled up to the checkout with his imaginary shopping list:
1 bunk bed (top bunk only, please)
1 gently chewed copy of Grandmaâs Stories
1 antique treat jar
1 chandelier
and of course, the Buick Torpedoânow clearly his.
As customers walked by, they pointed, laughed, and smiled. âThat dogâs living the dream,â someone said.
