In a warehouse in Cleveland are pieces from the past, and doors leading to new beginnings.
You just need the vision to see it, and vision is something Jessica Davis of Rebuilders Xchange has in abundance. "I went to a scrapyard and I saw usable material being scrapped," she recalled of her initial inspiration. 'So I'm like, 'Hmm, there's a perfectly good bathtub. Why is it being cut up torched apart?' And so here, we sell a bathtub and people can use it as a bathtub, so we keep things closer to their intended purpose or value or elevate it in some ways."
Davis started Rebuilders Xchange five years ago. Her business model offers a new home to everything from construction materials, vintage bathtubs and light fixtures, and other items that otherwise might have gone to waste. Vendors drop off materials and split the money 50/50 when they're sold.
